Today's plan: Portobello Market Road is one of the most famous markets in London (between Kensington and Chelsea), and I guess around the world. It lies in one of my haunts: Notting Hill. The first day I've been there I promised myself that if any day I lived in London I would have a small house with the typical steps in the main door in Notting Hill. It's a charmed borough. For you it should seem familiar as a matter of the famouse film called the same name: "Notthing Hill" (so recommended as well). Some people always are looking for the famous "blue door" or the library where the film was filmed.
But let's back with the market. The market is on saturday and it close at 5 in the evening, so don't be late. At 14-15h is so crowded and usually is so difficult to go through the market, but we are not in hurry, aren't we?
The items more common are the antiques (from furniture to jewellery). But there is fruit and vegetable stands, who trade throughout the week. Actually it is a must-go
take care :)
to get in: by tube or bus towards "notthing hill".
