Who doesn't know Harrods? The big luxury store located in one of the most prestigious borough in London, Knightsbridge and Chelsea. The store occupies 22.000 m2! The shop has 300 departments that offer a wide range of luxury products and services. They include clothing for women, men , children, electronics, jewelry, sporting gear, bridal trousseau, pets and pet accessories, toys, food and drink, health and beauty items, packaged gifts, stationery, housewares, home appliances, furniture..and much more.
After being the whole morning visiting around the store, Harrods also offers the service of 32 restaurants, serving everything from high tea to tapas. I suggest you to spend a couple of hours (if you can resist stay less) where I call "chocolate floor". There exist a floor where is plenty of chocolate and sweets. It is really amazing, and the smell... grr!
If you can afford you can hire a personal shopping-assistance programme known as "by appointment" or visit a tailor in the same store. Also if you have splashed out on amazing dresses because you couldn't resist, Harrods has personal Financial Services for you, or the Harrods Bank.
Other curious services are for example: private event planing and catering, food delivery, a wine steward, bespoke "picnic" hampers and gift boxes, bespoke cakes or bespoke fragrances formulations.
It is an amazing store to spend a little while visiting it. It is worth. Up to 300.000 customers visit the shop on peak days, comprising the highest proportion of customers from non-English speaking countries of any department store in London.
In Harrods lies one memorial of Diana, Princess of Wales. Located at the base of the Egyptian Escalator, consisting of photographs of the two behind a pyramid-shaped display that holds a wine glass smudged with lipstick from Diana's last dinner as well as what is described as an engagement ring Dodi purchased the day before they died.
So, please visit it because is so worth. But, be careful!, from 1989 Harrods has had a dress code. It was so strict but nowadays a wide range of outfits for everyone is possible to get inside.
*History key: the first escalator in the world was settled in Harrods in 1898. Customers hesitated about using it, that is why Harrods offered Brandy to their costumers to take awe out.
EVENT: This weekend you can enjoy the 10% disccount in many items from Harrods, only saturday and sunday.
